Let me stop you before you say some truly regrettable shit.

Do not tell me that in order to be queer one must experience a certain level of bigotry, or violence against them, or pain in their lives in order to be a part of the queer community. What the fuck is the point of any movement toward queer liberation if the litmus test for whether you’re a “tru queer” or not is whether you’ve faced x amount of abuse from cishet people? Shouldn’t the point of “progress” be that each iterative generation moving forward experiences less bigotry, less abuse, less fucking pain in their lives? Shouldn’t the whole point of the project be to reduce the harm done, to reduce the net percentage of homeless youth that are GLBT, to make sure trans people aren’t beaten or shot to death?
