Hey y’all. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted to this platform but I feel strongly about this and I think Tumblr – if it has any ounce of good in it left – might be able to do some good shit here.
This fashy shithead is Jair Bolsonaro.
He was inaugurated as the president of Brazil on January 1, as part of a resurgence of international right-wing authoritarianism. He is openly sexist, homophobic, transphobic and chauvinistic generally. His first act in office was to enable the Ministry of Human Rights to ignore LGBTQIA+ people as part of its mission.
Bolsonaro has praised the Pinochet dictatorship in past interviews, and there’s no evidence he’s softened or gotten more left-wing since… oh… three months ago, when some of the most recent such interviews with him was published.
Here’s the shit about this, folks. We can’t wait for mainstream LGBT orgs to slowly wind up and, idk, write a strongly worded letter. If you’re involved in your communities, start talks, get prepared, be prepared to provide aid and support should our siblings in Brazil call for it. We have no reason to be caught off guard by a transparently hateful man and his government.
