Donald Trump has signed executive orders mandating the beginning of construction of a border wall and a halt to federal grants going to immigrant sanctuary cities.
The orders also call for a hiring ramp of border patrol and ICE agents, a cessation of an ongoing “catch-and-release” program, and a payment system that will initially unload the up-front costs of construction on American taxpayers, but will “eventually” shift the financial burden onto Mexico.
